Resident Evil 7 Biohazard

Since the arrival of the next generation consoles, there has been a complete lack of proper survival horrors. Silent Hill PT was announced and a demo was released, but even though the great following and the demand being there, it was cancelled due to fallings out within KONAMI. Even though now it has been confirmed to be back in production (under the new name of Allison Road) the market for survival horror was left pretty empty.

After years of making the Resident Evil franchise into a zombie based shooter CAPCOM have finally made a new edition to the popular series in the form of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. I’m sure i wasn’t the only sceptic, thinking ‘Yes they may say its a survival horror but it’ll still just be another shooter…’ You’ll be wrong!

It all starts off with the main character, Ethan getting a video message from his wife Mia, who has been missing for years previously. He tracks her to an old abandon house in the middle of a creepy woods, which once belonged to the Baker family. The Bakers had mysteriously disappeared years beforehand leaving the house to rot where it sat.

I don’t want to give too much away as i could ruin the plot for you but i will say it is really twisted and gripping!

I played this without the VR headset and still it had me on the edge of my seat. You cannot relax for a second, a combination of the soundtrack, the creepy setting and realistic graphics you are expecting at every turning something to jump out on you. as you can imagine with a VR this would be ten time worse. The graphics are amazing as mentioned above. The game play and controls are extremely fluent, my only frustration being the ending anticlimactic but it does leave  you wondering whats next in the series.

If you’re like me and a huge survival horror fan, i would put this a s a MUST PLAY! it had me jumping out my seat on many occasions where the unexpected occurs. This has to be one of the best horror games I’ve ever played and I’ve played a lot!  Out of my top 10 of all time this would be classed as third best resident Evil of all time.

10 out of 10. I cannot wait to play this on the VR!
